The latest New Music selections from the On The Record column in tomorrow’s edition of The Ticket. All tips for future New Music picks welcome below.

Fixers

Further proof of Oxford’s growing status as a fertile creative hotbed as Fixers join Trophy Wife and Chad Valley on the list of our fave post-Foals’ acts. Check out their ambitious art-rock and infectious avant-garde pop on new single “Iron Deer Dream”

Meadhbh Boyd

Clare-born, Cork-based musician, composer, trad fiddler (a member of the Turloughmore Ceili Band), teacher and (just to show there’s always a downside) journalist who has recently turned her attention to making spooky, high-grade experimental pop tunes like “Smelly Defeat”. More of this kind of thing, please.

Bouts

Download debut album “New Ways Of Saying No” for free from new-ish Irish band featuring ex-members of Lines Drawing Circles and Green Lights. Bold and brash angular indie with oodles of sweet-as melodies (see “Tides” for more of this). Band have yet to play live so keep an eye out for the debut gig.
