Dinosaur Jr and Built to Spill, Ireland, May

    Jim Carroll

Dinosaur Jr and Built to Spill play Galway’s Black Box on May 10. Tickets for the gig now on sale at €30 and €28 a pop. A Dublin show will be announced in the next few days with MCD, Aiken Promotions and POD all vying for the gig.

Stay tuned for the Oxegen announcement later today – and don’t be surprised if Muse, Gorillaz, Faithless, Arcade Fire, Florence & The Machine, Broken Social Scene and Eminem feature.

    From back in the day…

    • Daniel says:

going interviewing J when he comes to town?

    • P&M says:

Hopefully Dinosaur Jr will get their sound sorted this time. The sound has been awful at their last two gigs here.
Jim, didn’t you recently post that you were going to dig up an interview with J Mascis from back in the day? I may have completely imagined that of course.

    • The G-Man says:

Broken Social Scene will surely be back to EP will they not?? :(

    • Jim Carroll says:

      daniel – dunno

      P&M – must do that

      G-Man – not what I’m hearing

    • feather McGraw says:

Mark Lanegan also playing Galway on April 30th.

    • gugai says:

Tickets for Dinosaur/Spill and Mark Lanegan available at http://www.roisindubh.net

      mark’s show is flying out

    • E says:

Broken Social Scene and Arcade Fire at Oxygen? Hmmm, so that implies Electric Picnic won’t be able to nab the big names again this year, right?

    • Jim Carroll says:

gugai – have added that link

E – again, I must stress this is speculation so don’t go out and buy a ticket for Oxegen based on some speculation u read on OTR

    • Fiona says:

MCD, Aiken and POD all duking it out for Dinosaur Jr and BTS? Can’t wait to see the ticket prices :-(

    • Jim Carroll says:

Fiona – the boys at William Morris Agency must be rubbing their hands with glee….

    • Chalkie says:

some rumours for EP, Wilco, Pavement, LCD Soundsystem and Fever Ray..

    • Le Catch says:

Wouldn’t be surprised to see The Chemical Brothers at Picnic again this year. They have been added to the Sonar line up.

BSS at Oxegen is disappointing. I had hoped Oxegen would stick to putting on bands to suit their audience and leave bands such as BSS to The Picnic to suit theirs.

    • gugai says:

Dinosaur tend to be fairly wary of high ticket prices.

    • Stampy says:

In a list of Muse, Gorillaz, Faithless, Arcade Fire, Florence & The Machine, Broken Social Scene and Eminem. I wouldn’t really consider Broken Social Scene to be one of the big one’s.
I’d say Pavement are very likely to play EP

That Prince/ MCD thing is up in court today.

    • Joe says:

Will see BSS at Primavera so wont mind missing them if they play oxegen instead of EP. Arcade Fire would be nice, but seen them before.

    • Fergal says:

Now that the delerious froth of excitement has abated and the paramedics have confirmed that the tingling sensation in my whole body is not the onset of cardiac arrest but anticipatory excitement let me say, Dino J and Built to Spill on the same bill. Ye–esss!!

On the Pavement front it would come as no surprise to see them on the line-up for one of the big festivals here this year. Happily i’ve secured a ticket for their upcoming May show. There really was no reason for me to say that other than the glee that the thought of it promotes. Tee-hee!

    • caroline says:

i see interpol are opening for U2 on their north american tour, which runs over the weekend of oxegen so i guess they wont be appearing at that then, so i wonder if they’ll be playing EP?

    • Daire says:

Is Lanegan gonna announce a Dublin date as well then? It’d be strange if he only played Galway. And by that I mean typical.;)

    • Mully says:

Dirty Projectors down for T in the Park … There may be trouble ahead. Black Moutain also.

    • Fergal says:

I’d love to see Mark Lanegan in Dublin. Vicar Street would be perfect. Fingers crossed. Great excuse for a weekend in Galway but!

    • Daniel says:

@ 18.pfft. galway’s where it’s at now. just bought tickets for Dinosaur and Lanegan, good times

    • gugai says:

@ 21 – I hear nothing but good things about that place.

We might have to get you back down for another DJ set, Jim.

    • Jim Carroll says:

gugai – Can you contact William Morris about that? They’re repping me now

    • gugai says:

Good move. I might have to move you to a bigger venue….

    • Jim Carroll says:

Gugai – ah rats, I heart the Roisin. That gig I did there last year was such a blast. I’ll tell Russ to give you a discount….
