    I may have been laughing at Wikipedia yesterday for Brian Cowen’s apparently well-hidden UN family connections, but today’s news is no laughing matter. Apparently Wikipedia has banned the Church of Scientology and its members from making edits to entries on its site.

    It’s nice to see that not all the stories about Facebook hitting the headlines these days are bad. In among the viruses and the privacy isues you get a story like this - a mother who found her son after 27 years through the social networking site.

  • RTÉ boldly goes… where everyone else has gone before

    Well, well.  It seems someone at RTÉ has realised that there’s a whole world of new technology out there that they can take advantage of. Say hello to RTÉ Player, the new online catchup service that will show programmes broadcast on RTÉ One and Two for up to 21 days after they’re first shown.

    The Pirate Bay saga rolls on. Fresh from last week’s guilty verdict, the lawyer for one of the convicted men is demanding a retrial, claiming the judge’s membership of copyright protection groups meant he shouldn’t have heard the case.

  • Last.fm to charge for Radio

    Last.fm fans will be disappointed to hear that the site plans on making its streaming Last.fm radio service subscription only to listeners outside the UK, US and Germany. So that would include us then.
