• Learning from my mistakes

  Data recovery from a busted hard drive is expensive. The good news is it can be recovered – bad news is it will cost you.

  In this case I think I’m going to have to just suck it up and be more careful about backing up the back-up in future.

  Oh the irony. Less than a week after writing about how data loss is expected to affect an increasing number of people this year, my external hard drive gave up the ghost. All those stern talking-tos I’ve given about backing up the backup, and I hadn’t quite got around to it myself.

  Fingers crossed I can get some of the files back, or else I’ve lost almost ever photo I’ve taken over two years. Along with some pretty important files.

  This week’s investment: a 1TB hard drive and 100 DVD-Rs.
