    Apple has scored a victory against Samsung in a US court case over patent infringements. If you’ve been following this, you’ll know that Samsung and Apple have been suing and counter-suing each other in a whole heap of lawsuits in recent times. To be exact, more than 30 legal suits have been filed since 2010 across four continents.

  • Google’s Olympic doodles

    We all know that Google is a dab hand at producing some timely – and interesting – doodles for its home page. But this Olympics themed one is probably one of its best in the recent run.

    It’s a fully functioning hurdling game. You can even share your scores at the end.

    UPDATE: Today’s is almost as good (but not quite). Test out your basketball skills. Apparently my computer basketball skills are as good as my real-world ones – not very.

    In today’s media industry, you can’t stand still for too long, or you risk getting left behind. We could all benefit from a bit of innovation, and who better to bring that to the Irish Times than entrepreneurs?

    In recent months, the Irish Times put out a call for start-ups that could work with us in new ways. Five were shortlisted and have already begun their eight-week “getting to know you” period, where everyone figures out if we can all work together in mutually beneficial ways. The companies that made it to this stage: Knockon.ie, GetBulb, Picturk, MyiFli and Storyflow.
