  • Out with the old…

With the end of 2010 looming, I’m getting ready for a whole new round of games in the coming year. But first, here’s a few of my top games of the year. What are your top 10?

  • Andy 1, PlayStation3 0

So you have a Playstation 3. It has pride of place in the living room, usually under a fairly large high definition TV. It’s safe to say you love it. You play with it most days. Your family and friends dread when there’s talk of yet another must-have game because they know it’ll mean you monopolising the TV for hours on end, caught up in Call of Duty/Army of Two/Medal of Honor. IN fact, if there was any sort of emergency in the house – fire, flood – it’s a toss-up between your family and your Playstation as to what you’d save first. (We never say it, but deep down, we suspect it might be the PS3. )

If something happened to it, it would be close to disastrous.

Then one fateful day, it dies. And not only does it die, it dies in the middle of Black Ops. Which not only means you’ve probably lost all your hard-won progress in Black Ops up until now (hours upon hours for nothing), but also your favourite game of the moment is stuck inside the PS3. And no matter how hard you try, that’s not coming out.

  • Tis the season

  • Why I am not a cartoon character (and other Facebook related madness)

If you haven’t already shut down your Facebook profile by now, you’ll probably have realised that trends on the site follow a particular pattern. First of all there’s the initial email, imploring people to change their status/profile picture to something obscure “to get people talking”. The hook usually is that it’s for charity, usually a worthy cause that people would feel like a heartless git if they weren’t seen to support it.

    Then it snowballs.

  • And the countdown begins.

I have an aversion to anything to do with Christmas before December is officially here, unless I’m forced. Every year it gets earlier, and this year has been particularly bad. Spotting Christmas merchandise in shops in September nearly finished me off.

But if you do any of your shopping online, chances are you’re already some way into your Christmas list. If not, here’s some sites that could help your gift hunt.
