Tech tools: HP Envy 17
Envy laptops are made with a specific purpose in mind: entertainment. With a powerful processor and graphics that can handle gaming, video and 3D images on a 17.3-inch high-definition screen, the Envy 17 also has some high-performance audio technology built in to cover all the essentials.
It has the obligatory celebrity tie-in of course; the audio technology – Beats Audio – was developed by none other than Dr Dre with HP, with the intention of recreating music exactly how it was meant to be heard.
It also uses the HP Triple Bass Reflex subwoofer.
It has a couple of nice touches, such as the slot-loading optical drive – very Mac-a-like - and a backlit keyboard, just in case you have the urge to type in low light. A low-light high-definition webcam is also built in to the device. It’s not short on storage space either, with up to 2TB of capacity on the hard drive.
