Google unveils new TV service
Google is already offering search, advertising, mobile phone operating systems, email services, translation services… and if it gets its way, it will soon be on your TV.
The web giant unveiled its new Google TV service yesterday at a developer conference, with Sony, Intel, Logitech and Adobe on hand to back it up.
The service will use an on-screen search box, similar to Google’s website, to access the search engine and look through live programs, DVR recordings and the web, all from your TV set.
The company is attempting to succeed where Apple hasn’t really- tapping a major TV advertising market.
The plans are to have the TVs on the market in the US for Christmas, but there is no news yet on whether the service will be brought to Ireland.
