MWC: Opera unveiled for iPhone
Ciara O'Brien
There might be a bit of competition for Safari on the iPhone. Today, Opera demonstrated its iPhone browser at Mobile World Congress’ Showstoppers event.
The brief look I got was impressive. It’s fast, for a start. Up to six times faster at times than Safari, Opera says. And it’s very easy to use. It keeps the same “speed dial” interface, and it also allows you to use tabbed browsing.
It also compresses the pages as it loads so not only does it load quicker, but it also eats less of your data allowance.
The question is, will Apple approve it once it’s submitted to the App Store?
