    Apple confirms January event

    Ciara O'Brien

Apple has confirmed its event will take place on January 27th, setting off another flurry of rumours about what the company could be about to announce.

It looks certain that a tablet of some description will be unveiled at the US event, as the rumour mill has been predicting for some time.

The unveiling of several slate devices by Microsoft’s Steve Ballmer in his keynote speech at CES in Las Vegas earlier this month would also be a massive hint that Apple is planning something along those lines. While the devices may not have blown away CES attendees, they certainly provided some indication of where the industry is planing on heading – or trying to – this year.

There are also suggestions that Apple could be about to announce a new iPhone. We’ll have to wait until next Wednesday to find out for certain.

I can’t wait. My greatest weakness maybe, is for shiny gadgets. And nobody does shiny gadgets like Apple!

Can I get your opinion on something Ciara? My laptop has died and I fancy the new Samsung R530, which is going for about £450 with Windows 7 on Amazon. My wife would like a macbook pro, but it’s about £850 and I don’t see that the spec is all that more impressive. Would I really just be paying for the name and the supposedly better OS?

    • Harry says:

I am such a sucker for Apple stuff. I’m going to buy the itablet as soon as it hits the shelves. It sound amazing and we know nothing about it. Only questionswill be about portability and fragility.
