    And so it begins…

    Ciara O'Brien

The dust hasn’t even settled yet and already the PR bandwagon is rumbling. Firstpress release based on last night’s cruel defeat is an iPod speaker. The tag line?

A football you can touch with your hand – even if you aren’t French.

The source: CTC and Simpson PR. Points for being first off the mark. I was expecting a lot more football-themed press releases.

The first paragraph really rammed the point home:

Irish distributor CTC today announced a novel iPod speaker in the shape of a football. “You can control the volume by touch so this is one football you can handle, even if you aren’t French,” commented Graham Doyle, Director, CTC Ireland.

Not very ‘catchy’ it has to be said!

No seriously, the Irish love nothing better than a good bout of feeling sorry for ourselves. With the celtic tiger we haven’t had alot to moan about recently. But first there was the recession, and not Henry. Wahooo! I expect the stream of double entendres to continue…

“Never saw a wild thing feeling sorry for itself” – DH Lawrence I’m told. Must mean this is a pretty tame nation. No Tiger. Pussycat.
