Nokia World ’09: The N97 Mini
Nokia World 2009 is full of updates and new devices.
First up is the a new version of the popular N97, the N97 Mini. The handset, as the name suggests, will be a smaller version of the current device.
Not that the N97 is a massive burden to lug around in your pocket, but Nokia is hoping to win over a few more customers with the handset.
The physical size of the device isn’t the only thing that will be scaled down. The N97 Mini will have only 8GB of memory, far less than the 32GB that the full-size device has. According to Nokia, this reduction in memory also makes in more affordable.
Aside from that, there are a couple of improvements. Kinetic scrolling has been brought in for menus, not just for the browser.
It also includes Nokia’s new lifecasting feature, which integrates your phone and its functions with Facebook. You can publish your location and status updates directly to Facebook account from the home screen of the N97 Mini. Good news for social networking addicts.
It also includes the Lonely Planet guides, which roughly translates into 155,000 points of interest and 1,000 destinations.
It should be available in the last quarter of the year.
