LG’s shinyprettyshiny phone
There are two sides to my tech personality. The first is the jaded cynic, who views everything with the question “yes, but what does it actually DO?”. This demands something extra rather than the same tired technology over and over again. Except with maybe a shiny new cover.
The second is the one I usually try to keep hidden. It’s the one that spots the shiniest gadget in the place and immediately starts thinking “SHINY PRETTY SHINY WANT”. It’s not very dignified, and usually leads to me owning things like pink mobile phones and laptops.
I’m not sure what side this new LG phone will bring out. Frankly, I’m a little scared.
The LG GD900 is the latest touch screen phone, but it has one important difference: it has a transparent touch pad.
The touch pad supports finger-writing recognition and functions such as multi-touch for zooming in on web pages, gesture shortcuts for applications and the touch wheel to pause, play and rewind multimedia clips.
That’s all we know for now, but the transparent touchpad has already raised some interest (mine included).
The phone is due for launch in May.
UPDATE: LG’s Irish PR company has confirmed that the phone will be available in Ireland. If I ever get my sticky mitts on one of these, I’ll love it and squeeze it and call it George.
