    Facebook, MS team up to wipe out virus

    Remember the Koobface worm that attacked Facebook and other social networking sites? For those with short memories, it was the one that invited you to check out an unidentified video of yourself online, usually with “LOL” thrown in there somewhere.

    Obviously this is just a ruse to get you download malware masquerading as a vital audio codec you need to view the clip.

    Microsoft and Facebook are teaming up to eradicate it apparently.

    Is anyone still falling for this, by the way?  Most people I know on social networking sites are familiar with Koobface and its variants, and know better than to download any mystery software at this stage.

      strangely enough, i’d imagine a lot of people are still falling for it.
      whether it’s the type of adults that fall for the “your bank wants you to re-send your details”, or teenagers who are probably more worried about social appearance than whether or not some link is malware…
