Mobile World Congress: Universal charger for mobiles
Well it’s about time. Apparently manufacturers have agreed on a standard charger for mobile phones, meaning that tangle of cables and old chargers could be a thing of the the past.
It will also mean an end to the frantic search for someone – anyone - with a charger that will fit your phone when you’re caught out with a low battery and no charger.
Some of the major manufacturers have apparently agreed this is a Good Idea, with mini-USB apparently the charger of choice – Nokia, Motorola and Sony Ericsson are all said to have signed up. And the new chargers will also be more energy efficient, appealling to the current green trend.
It is predicted the chargers will be in use for most mobiles by 2012.
