Cynics unite!
Ciara O'Brien
It’s not all hearts and flowers for valentine’s Day. Like any other holiday, it’s a prime time for spammers, viruses and spyware to trick their way into your inbox.
ESET Ireland is predicting a rise in the number of virulent spam emails on V-Day. It had this to say:
“E-mails notifying users that they received a Valentine’s card or subject lines such as “I Love Being In Love With You”, though heart-warming, usually turn out to be computer-infecting. Links or file attachments in such e-mails usually contain some form of malware attempting to infect the user’s computer.”
So chances are if that email from someone claiming to be a model looking for the right person to love – you lucky, lucky person – seems too good to be true, it probably is.
Update your anti-virus and dial the cynicism up to nine…
