Retro supporters cover the hard miles

    Tommy

A very convincing win for the boys yesterday (Wednesday).  The Sharks are one of top provincial sides in South Africa.  Even if they were missing a few players we looked to be getting stronger and stronger as the game went on and by the end the Sharks didn’t know where to go.

The coaches and players were very happy with the end result and it sets us up nicely for a big match against the Stormers in Cape Town this Saturday.  The non 22 from yesterday’s match trained this morning in preparation for the Stormers game.  We fly to Cape Town this evening (Thursday).

The supporters are starting to arrive thick and fast now, but the most noticeable so far, for me, are the two guys who have bought a classic Merc from the 70’s, painted it red and white with ‘Lions’ down the side.

In Rustenberg they asked some of the players to sign it.  These guys have planned to drive the car to every match.  I do feel for them driving the 24-hour trek from Durban to Cape Town.  The idea probably made a lot of sense in their university halls but I’m sure they’re starting to doubt it now.  They still seem in high spirits and when we asked how the car was going, all that was needed was a bit of oil!  Hopefully we will see them in Cape Town with the same smiles on their faces.

I would leave a comment tommy but the boys on off the ball are taking the pxss out of the worst ones, and I’m not too confident.

I think the B& I Lions are just kidding themselves. they first played a no-name brand team, which almost beat them, albeit it a few points diffs, then they played the Cheetahs, who if were not let down by their kicking would have won. the Sharks side they played werent missing “just a couple of their team” but the entire team that participated in the super 14 – the only real win was against the Xerox Lions who suck anyway!! Get real B&I Lions – you’ve been playing C League matches! True test will be played when the Springboks kick your furry but goodbye!

Omg Cathi your talking so much rubbish like! What is the point on you leaving a comment like that you really need to wise up like! On a better note loving the blog I’m fully addicted to reading about everything that is going on off the pitch. I was a bit raged like that you and rob werent playing on Wednesday but I’m sure yous will do everyone proud. All you need to do is keep up the your brillant performance and attudiue. Also keep showing everyone the first class level of rugby that everyone knows that you for.

Tombow trust me, the majority of people have every faith in you and the team. Obviously none of these matches can prepare you fully for the matches against the Springboks, but they won’t be fully prepared for you either. Unpredictability is the magic of rugby. Best of luck !

Tommy don’t know if you read these or not, but just to let you know, on rugby forums such as bbc 606 you are being unanimously described as the player of the tour by far, even touted as possible player of the year. You deserve it, amazing assist for Moyne.

Congratulations on the ‘Man of the Match’ award Tommy – great try – and also the setting up of the second. You must be in the Test team now.

Good match – good to see the Lions keeping calm and just playing their game even with Western Province coming back into it.

    Hey Tommy.
    Great display against Cape Town
You have surely cemented a place in the test team now which is just great seeing as your talent is very limited along with your overall pace and vision.

If Carlsberg made wingers, they would have made Tommy Bowe.
