Canada announces date for second round of IEC visas

Another 3,850 working holiday visas available on April 1st after first round gone in seven minutes

Fri, Mar 28, 2014, 11:17

The eagerly anticipated second round of 3,850 working holiday visas under the International Experience Canada programme will open to Irish people on Tuesday April 1st at 9pm sharp

The first round were gone within a record seven minutes, so having everything ready to go in advance is key. Applicants should have a Kompass account already set up, and can log into the system 10 minutes before it opens.

For more on how to prepare your application, read the Irish Canadian Immigration Centre’s guide to the IEC. Irish-run information website has a good FAQ document, as well as advice on how to prepare your application and a dedicated Facebook forum for IEC applicants.

For those who can secure a job in advance, the new young professionals stream is a great alternative to the working holiday visa. Just 79 of the 2,500 visas available have been taken up so far. See here for more information. Interns can apply for one of 500 international co-op visas.
