How countries can benefit from the ‘extraordinary influence of migrants’
Kingsley Aikins’ TEDx talk on how countries can build connections with their diasporas
Drawing on his experience working with the Ireland Funds and the Gathering 2013, Kingsley Aikins of Diaspora Matters gave this TEDx talk in Vilnius recently on how countries can benefit from the successes of their overseas communities.
“Diasporas are all about people. People seep and slip and slide from country to country. So we need to put in place strategies to find out who those people are, where they are and what they are doing… we need to take them on a journey where they may be distrustful, or dislike us… on a journey to where they are passionately involved with their country. And the glue in all of this… is trust… which is not deserved, but earned.”
