Application process for Canadian IEC visas to open soon

Applicants advised to act fast to secure one of 10,000 working holiday visas for Irish under-35s

The Canadian Department of Immigration and Citizenship is expected to open the 2014 round for two-year working holiday (International Experience Class, or IEC) visas for Irish citizens within days.

The quota for Irish people this year is 10,000, up from 6,350 in 2013, which were snapped up in just two days. Because applicants were unable to apply after the quota was sold out last January, there is huge pent-up demand for the visas, so this year’s applicants are being advised to act fast when the system opens.

A note on the Canadian government’s immigration website says 24 to 72 hours notice will be given in advance of the opening.

Irish-run website Moving2Canada.com has added new FAQ articles to help applicants to prepare.
