Free Gathering books for Generation Emigration readers
Book captures many of the homecomings that took place across the country for the Gathering this year
Generation Emigration has five copies of The Gathering: Reflections on Ireland to give to Irish Times readers. The book, published by the Irish Hospice Foundation in the year of the Gathering, captures many of the homecomings that took place across the country this year. There’s the story of two cousins from opposite sides of the US, both surfers descended from Blasket islanders, meeting in Dingle for the first time. It tells of the building of a monument to the diaspora in Co Offaly by stonemasons from around the world.
There are also reflections on Ireland and Irishness by author Colum McCann, broadcaster Micheal O Muircheartaigh, sportspeople Brian O’Driscoll and Katie Taylor, and actor and comedian Pat Shortt.
The Gathering: Reflections on Ireland is a lovely gift for relatives at home or abroad, or just to yourself. To request a free copy, email firstname.lastname@example.org by close of business tomorrow. The first five applicants will receive a free copy, wherever they are in the world. Those who are unsuccessful but still want to buy it can order online here for €20 with free shipping worldwide. All proceeds go towards the work of the Irish Hospice Foundation in hospitals all across Ireland. For more, see hospice-foundation.ie
