Congratulations to the following children, who will receive international book vouchers from The Irish Times for their pictures:

Tess Doolan Burke (11), Sardinia Italy: "This is the hammock beside the pond where I sit and read in our back garden. I painted it when my cousin was visiting at easter. He had started to paint because he thought the garden beautiful and so I joined in. I miss Ireland but it is nice when my relations visit and tell us how lovely it is here."

Emma Reilly (10), Kazakhstan: "I drew this picture in springtime because there are lots of traditional holidays celebrated in the Spring. The girl in this picture is wearing traditional dress. There is a traditional instrument leaning against the tree called the dombra and on the other side is the symbol of the ram's horn which is very popular in Kazakh traditional art, and is also on the side of the flag. The Kazakh flag is blue and yellow and has the sun and a steppe eagle underneath it. The trees in bloom are apple trees; I drew them because apples are from Kazakhstan! I am happy to be in Kazakhstan because Ireland and Kazakhstan will play in the World Cup qualifier in September and I will go watch it and root for Ireland!"

Róisín Sheridan (12), Switzerland: "In my picture, it shows me looking out of the aeroplane window, saying goodbye to the amazing sceneries of Switzerland. Ever since I moved from Switzerland to Ireland in 2009, the thing I miss most about Switzerland is the scenery. The sky-high mountains and lush grass and giant lakes. I drew the picture so that I could capture the moment of wonder all over again."

Niamh Aitken (7), New Zealand: "I felt sad when I left New Zealand because I left my best friend Sophie Fynes, Eoghan O'Brien, and Susan Hughes who looked after me because Mum and Dad went out."

Charlie Connolly (5), Toronto: "This is a picture of my old house in Balbriggan. I miss it very much and I miss my friends and family. I like my new school in Toronto and I am able to ice skate!"

Patrick Connolly (7), Toronto: "This is a picture of our apartment in downtown Toronto and our yellow school bus myself and my brother take to school every day. We live on the 11th floor."

Alanah Meehan (6), Perth: "My picture is a baby koala, her mammy and her brother at sunset beach. I like drawing koalas and I like drawing lots of things. I like Australia but there is no snow here. I have lots of new friends."
