Generation Emigration

The Irish Times forum by and for Irish citizens living overseas,

Have your say: what does St Patrick’s Day mean to you?

The St Patrick’s Day events kicked off around the world this weekend, and we want to know what the day means to you as an Irish emigrant.

The St Patrick’s Day events kicked off around the world this weekend, and we want to know what the day means to you as an Irish emigrant.

Will you be celebrating the day wherever you are, and if so, how? Do you think St Patrick’s Day is an important way for the Irish abroad to assert their cultural heritage, or do you think parades, shamrocks and shillelaghs are a load of nonsense?

Throughout the week, we’ll be posting photos and videos of St Patrick’s festival events from around the world, so send yours and your St Patrick’s Day greetings or party pieces to emigration@irishtimes.com.
