Have your say: Does President Higgins’ focus on emigrants mean anything to you?

Michael D Higgins is on his way to the UK today for his first State visit abroad as President.

On his two-day trip, he will tour London’s Olympic Games site and meet emigrant groups and members of the Irish business community. First stop today is the London Irish Centre in Camden, and tomorrow a reception will be held where he will meet more members of the Irish community.

Mr Higgins was the only Presidential candidate to visit the UK during his election campaign. Since taking office, he has also appointed Irish emigrant rights campaigner Sally Mulready to his Council of State, and addressed the Irish abroad in several public speeches.

Does this do anything for you as an emigrant?
