Generation Emigration have received two media requests in recent days from TV production companies looking to interview Irish people who are preparing to emigrate.

Watershed Television are making a documentary for BBC3 looking at the impact of the current economic situation on young people in Ireland. If you are an Irish citizen currently living in Ireland, aged between 18-35, and are making plans to emigrate this year, they would like to hear from you.  If you would be interested in sharing your story, email sarah.robinson@watershedtv.co.uk. They are especially interested to hear from young people who are following in the footsteps of brothers and sisters or other relatives who have recently made the move abroad.

Lena Scherman, a journalist for Swedish public television SVT is currently preparing a feature story about the economic crisis in Europe. One of the countries she will pay attention to is Ireland, and the massive emigration that has taken place in 2011. Lena is looking to interview a person or family that plans to leave Ireland in the near future, particularly in the Galway area. Email emigration@irishtimes.com and we’ll pass on your details.
