Tonight on RTÉ One, Arrivals follows up with the five Irish families who featured in Departure Day documentary last January as they prepared to emigrate in search of a more successful working life overseas. One year on, is life really any better for them?

Featured on the programme are young couple Stephen Martin and Heather Leahy from Meath who moved to suburban Toronto with their newborn baby and toddler; the Murphy family from Newcastle West in Limerick who closed their family department store after 120 years in business for a new life in Sydney; electrician Larry Fay from Meath who is now working in the Australian outback in order to secure a second year on his visa after a difficult year trying to find work in Melbourne; and construction worker Aaron Hogan from Tipperary who emigrated to Sydney with a group of friends who have all had difficulty finding work because of the oversupply of Irish construction workers in the city.

Arrivals is on RTÉ One tonight at 9.35pm, and will be available to watch worldwide on the RTÉ Player.
