Unlikely venue, but great work: Galway’s visual art

Aidan Dunne did the rounds of the visual art at Galway Arts Festival, which is dominated by David Mach’s epic work. The sculptures are one thing, but the collages are another altogether – the detail is incredible, and when you wander the gallery you’ll see people’s noses pressed right up to the work as they try and take it all in.

The Absolut Festival Gallery itself is once again in the very unpromising site of the shopping centre, between an arcade and a supermarket, but once inside the space works and the crowds this week were big and varied. Plenty of families there.
