For the the summer (wherever it is) Festival Hub will be bringing you coverage, reviews, videos, bits, and maybe some bobs, from the events going on around the country.
Cork’s Midsummer Festival starts today. Here’s Peter Crawley writing about Ciudades Paralelas perhaps the most intriguing element of Tom Creed’s first programme – and selecting other highlights. And here’s a bit of vid, useful for anyone in Kent Station in the coming days.
The other biggie is Body and Soul, in Co Westmeath. Here’s the organisers laughing in the face of Mother Nature. And here’s Jim Carroll interviewing its creator Avril Stanley, and picking five acts to follow.
Our blogger Laurence Mackin will be there over the weekend, and will be reporting back each day. Here’s his tee-up of the event.
There’s also the Westport Festival if you’re in – or planning a trip to – that part of the world. Westport’s on the shortlist for The Irish Times Best Place to Live, you know. So you may not leave it’s so nice. It’s also got Seasick Steve, Jools Holland, Beth Orton, the Waterboys on the line-up - and, at 2.15pm on Sunday, “Competition Winner”. Great name for a band, guys.
