  • Yesterday’s column – any given Sunday

    May 10, 2012 @ 11:21 am | by Rosemary Mac Cabe

If you didn’t catch it, fear not! I am reproducing it here and then I am reproducing all of the little segments so you can see them! Well, except the one blazer five ways and the shoes, as they are as big above as they are getting.

    What do you think?

  • Bikinis on the beach – a Miami shoot by Daniel Holfield, styled by Courtney Smith

    May 7, 2012 @ 3:28 pm | by Rosemary Mac Cabe

If you got yesterday’s LIFE magazine with your Sunday Independent you’ll already have seen the fabulous shoot styled by Courtney Smith and photographed by Daniel Holfield, with hair and make-up by Melissa Conner and modelled by the gorgeous Gabrielle at Elite Model Management Miami. I love the acid brights – and it’s hard not to like a shoot with a hot lifeguard in it, as well as two slightly disgruntled looking sunbathers.

All of the items in the shoot are from Arnotts and available now!

  • Sugar High by Mario Ardi for Design Scene

    April 26, 2012 @ 2:30 pm | by Rosemary Mac Cabe

I love this sweeter-than-candy shoot. There’s something so 1990s Just Seventeen magazine about it, from the perfect pink lips to the straight brows and the just perfect hair! I love that her hair doesn’t look real; it looks as if it’s been coated in candy floss. Amazing shoot for Design Scene.

  • Lara Stone by Alasdair McLellan

    March 26, 2012 @ 4:00 pm | by Rosemary Mac Cabe

So far, so WAG – but look a little closer and check out the detail in those amazing candy-pink French manicured nails by Sophy Robson. Stunnah! This photograph is just editorial perfection – she’s portraying a not-very-covetable “look”, but still each of the items looks great i and of itself. Satirical aim achieved without angering any PRs or luxury brands. Everyone’s a winner, baby!

  • I think we’re going to need a bigger boat – fashion shoot featuring the TCD and UCD rowers

    March 23, 2012 @ 7:30 am | by Rosemary Mac Cabe

This shoot was done last weekend, with shots taken by the Times’ own Alan Betson and hair and make-up by Emma Farrell. I wanted to go for a very preppy, Tommy Hilfiger feel to the styling – really clean, fresh, wholesome youngsters – and for the hair and make-up to look really natural and almost as if they’d just got out of the water. I was thinking of those Tom Ford ads and Swimfan, in a weird psychological combination.

Check out Liam Gorman’s great article about the Gannon Cup and the painstaking credits for each of the photographs above. What do you think of the styling? And, more importantly, what do you think of those twins? (Yes, I have a twin obsession, so sue me.)

  • Irish Tatler, April – The Clash

    March 14, 2012 @ 10:30 am | by Rosemary Mac Cabe

Following on from last week’s Image magazine shoot, here’s Irish Tatler‘s April shoot – another pattern-clash extravaganza. Barry McCall has worked his usual magic on these shots, which have such a crisp, clean yet ethereal quality to them. Mesmerising. And, of course, Catherine Condell’s styling is spot on.

  • Garden of Delights – an IMAGE magazine editorial

    March 8, 2012 @ 8:30 am | by Rosemary Mac Cabe

Photographed by Christian Ammann and styled by Sinead Keenan, I am seriously loving the visuals in this shoot from a recent issue of IMAGE magazine. The Botanic Gardens serve as backdrop to a sea of lush, luscious prints. Gorgeous!

  • Grazia’s Fash Goes Clash – the big fashion issue

    March 7, 2012 @ 7:30 am | by Rosemary Mac Cabe

On my way home from London Fashion Week, tired and footsore (I know, woe is me, right?), I picked up a copy of Grazia‘s S/S Big Fashion Issue to devour on the plane. I have to say, Grazia is a magazine that I love and loathe in almost equal measure (the former, luckily, wins out); its celebrity focus, you know, “Grazia has learned that Jennifer will marry Justin in an intimate ceremony”, makes me feel a bit dirty, but its fashion focus is always spot on, never more so than with this editorial, styled by Andrew Holden and photographed by Andrew Yee.

Perhaps it’s the sexist in me, but I’m always mega impressed when a male stylist gets a shoot so right; while I know fashion is dominated by creative men (Alber Elbaz, Raf Simons, Tom Ford, the late Lee Alexander McQueen, Karl Lagerfeld, the list goes on …) who understand women, being able to actually, physically dress those women is, if you ask me, a cut above. • Bloom Town – W magazine editorial

    March 6, 2012 @ 7:30 am | by Rosemary Mac Cabe

How many florals are too many? According to W magazine‘s Bloom Town, that number doesn’t exist … Seriously in love with everything about this shoot, styled by Giovanna Battaglia and photographed by Sharif Hamza.

  • Gwyneth’s fashion moment

    March 5, 2012 @ 10:30 am | by Rosemary Mac Cabe

Hot on the heels of her serious fashion moment at the Oscars, Gwyneth Paltrow, capitalising on her “hot right now” -ness, produced her cleverest fashion-focused Goop newsletter yet. (What do you mean, you don’t get the Goop newsletter? You’d better get on that; it’s got the inside track to how Gwyneth gets so hot and, y’know, stuff like that.) Anyway, the most recent one was in association with Net-a-Porter, wherein Gwyneth showed you how to get various looks, with handy hints as to what they’d be good for. It’s seriously adorable – click through each photograph to see Gwynnie’s Net-a-Porter picks!

Granted, the bodycon dress isn’t really high up on my “to buy” list, but this is a really nice look – and it doesn’t scream 1990s Posh Spice to me, like most of those Herve Leger-inspired numbers do. (If you’re into that look, have you seen my Xposé segment featuring French Connection dresses?) (more…)
