Underneath your clothes – smalls from Arnotts for A/W
Arnotts made the Vintage Cocktail Club home for its lingerie salon show, where new brands and old showed just what the department store has to offer
Don’t you just love the word “smalls”? There’s something so quaint and old-fashioned about it – I think I’ll start using it more often. It definitely sounds nicer than “knickers” or, heaven forbid, “panties”.
On Wednesday morning a group of print and online press gathered in the Vintage Cocktail Club for a short preview of Arnotts‘ lingerie collections for the coming season, featuring new brands to the department stores such as Studio La Perla, Huit and Mimi Holliday.
In keeping with the location, the items on show – 16 looks in total – were vintage-inspired, with lots of lace, silk and cute, quirky details such as bows on knickers and sheer panelling. And there was as much variety in the bodies of the models they used as there was in the lingerie itself; afterwards, lingerie buyer Elaine O’Byrnes explained that Arnotts wanted to show that they really have lingerie for every body.
And in case y’all wondered how we lasted through the 15-minute show, the crew at the VCC put on a great spread; quail eggs on black pudding, mini raspberry cheesecake and arancini (although not in that order), all washed down with good old-fashioned OJ.
