Young at heart for Oasis S/S 2013
Oasis is looking to a younger audience with its S/S 2013 collection – but will that put its loyal buyers off?
One of my fave high-street shops Oasis just unveiled its S/S 2013 collection with a heavy focus on florals in their St Stephen’s Green photocall, starring Sinéad Noonan and Rozanna Purcell. We’re talking party frocks, short shorts and standout separates in a collection that leans very much towards the younger side of things – with high hemlines and snug fits.
Trousers, €56, vest, €44, leather jacket, €219
In the past, I’ve found Oasis has been great for my size-14 shape – dresses aren’t too short and jeans aren’t too low-waisted, but I’ll admit that I’m nervous about this new direction. Heads at Oasis say they’re looking towards a slightly younger audience (perhaps trying to mop up the Topshop overspill?) and lowering prices as a result – along with, it seems, raising hemlines.
Dress, €88
This flirty 1950s number is nothing new for Oasis, but it is nice to see a shop that has a very definite DNA; like Karen Millen, an Oasis dress is often easy to spot in a line-up. I’m slightly lusting after Roz’s shorts suit (top pic), which will set you back €88 for the jacket and €47 for the shorts, and while I’m usually very much a dress lover, I’m not sure any of this selection will be making its way into my S/S wardrobe.
Dress, €100
