At the Arnotts launch of Lennon/Courtney’s debut collection
Sonya Lennon and Brendan Courtney launch their eponymous debut collection at Arnotts
I attended the launch of Lennon/Courtney in Arnotts last night (no points for spotting me in the pic above) to report on it for yesterday’s news pages, and it was a veritable who’s who of fashion press and assorted A- (slash D-) listers.
Lorraine Keane was there rubbing elbows with Ingrid Hoey, stylist on The Voice, Declan Leavy of The Daily Update, RTÉ’s Kathryn Thomas and Blathnaid Ní Chofaigh, fashion bloggers Minnie Mélange and Leanne Woodfull, fashion designer Peter O’Brien, Noel Sutton, Derek Carbery and more (more, more!) – along with Annemarie Boyhan of What She Wears, dutifully blogging the whole night.
As fashion lines go, theirs is an unusual one – there are no nods to trends or current designers. Instead the collection has a focus on hard-working pieces, “work horses”, they’re terming them, that will work as staples in your existing wardrobe. (Not unlike The Outnet’s Iris & Ink collection.) While I’m looking forward to getting my grubby mitts on a few of their pieces for my own wardrobe (those navy pleat-front trousers will be mine), I do wonder how well the collection will go down with Irish women still very much into the fancy gúna for their Friday night out.
What do you think of the duo’s debut collection? Is it hitting the right sartorial spots for you? More pics after the jump!
