These images from Christian Louboutin‘s S/S 2013 really embody all that the brand is about – whimsical glamour. Who would have thought to juxtapose those famous red soles with fishing scenes? They’re so eyecatching, and interesting both for fans of the brand and for others – who might have to double-take before they see that those are no fish hanging from the fisherwoman’s line, but red-soled shoes.

They’re works of art in themselves – so much so that I have three of them hanging in my livingroom, framed prints that were given to me when their PR visited late last year. Even himself appreciates their kind of austere beauty (at least he says he does).

As for the shoes themselves, there’s a whole lot more fun in S/S than maybe we’ve seen previously from the brand. Where studs were gold or silver, slightly menacing in metal, now they match the colour of the shoes; we’re talking prints and embellishments, pushing the envelope of footwear as art ever so slightly more and more.

I’ve yet to make a Christian Louboutin purchase – but if I did, it would be these beauties, a whopping €795 and calling to me in a serious way!
