Just look at Bey and Jay arriving at the 2013 inauguration of POTUS Barack Obama. Just look! What style! What grace! What sunglasses! What beautiful emeralds (with orange talons – was she sending a message to the Irish?)! Beyoncé wore a black velvet Emilio Pucci gown with, according to People magazine, 130 carats of emeralds.

By contrast, POTUS and FLOTUS were practically wallflowers. POTUS wore a black suit with a nifty white bow tie – although it’s interesting to note that the internet doesn’t care enough about menswear to be able to tell us where his suit is from. FLOTUS, on the other hand, was wearing a ruby gown by Jason Wu (who was also lucky enough to dress her on her, um, inaugural inauguration).
