Like so many other brands, River Island has gone for white for S/S 2013 in a really big way. I remember when I was watching the livestream of S/S 2013 at London Fashion Week, white was one of the strongest themes that came through loud and clear in the majority of the big-hitting collections, so it’s no surprise that River Island got on board with it. I love this crisp, white, laser-cut suit (above), such a fresh and cute take on suiting for spring/summer.
Really strong nods to Prada and Louis Vuitton here with these striped 1950s-style sundresses, which, I’d imagine, won’t hit shops until May or June, ready for high summer. I love the idea of picking these as alternative bridesmaids’ dresses – so cute, and really eye-catching. (They also remind me slightly of early Lily Allen, like you could throw them together with a pair of Nike Air Maxes and a pair of chunky gold earrings and carry it off, somehow.)
I am never, ever going to get on board with the idea of crop tops. Or, now that I look at that photograph, with white, pointy-toed stiletto heels. HOWEVER. This image pleases me. I love the oversized shades and the pairing of the muted striped pattern with the louder, tropical jacket. Slick! If I had a body to kill (which I will soon, when I get a trrrrrraaaaaainer – you heard it here first), I may just go for something like this. Maybe, come June, I will . . .
