There are, I’ll admit it, some definite perks to this job – and getting sent yummy samples to try out is definitely close to top of the list. (The other perk is occasionally meeting celebrities**, like that time I met Victoria Beckham and Harper.) This gorgeous set, She’s So Jetset, winged its way to me a couple of weeks back, one of the many sets that Benefit has on offer for A/W 2012 – and, conveniently, for the “holiday” season (I’m in New York; so sue me).
There are no Benefit sets that I actively dislike, so we should get that out of the way early. I don’t really see the point in a five-perfume set (because I generally like one fragrance at a time); ditto, the six-lipgloss set (I’m happy with one, thanks). But mostly I think they are quite lovely. The Coralista set is great, and the How to Look the Best at Everything kits are really handy.
But the She’s So Jetset kit is my absolutely number one favourite. The Porefessional is a really great primer, the lipgloss is a gorgeous colour, the blusher is also really flattering and it’s always handy to have a mini mascara (even if I don’t love They’re Real). But it’s in the eyeshadows where this kit really comes into its own. These four shades are beyond perfect for creating any look you could possibly want. (I mean, you’re not going to be doing a green, blue or purple eye, but you get my meaning.) Subtle, daytime eye? Check. Lovely smoky eye? CHECK. Slightly amber-y Kristen Stewart eye? Checcccccck!!! This is one kit that I will absolutely be buying over and over (and over) again. And at €39.50, it won’t break the bank***.
** That was pretty much the only time I ever met anyone close to a celebrity. Except, oh, that time I partied with Gisele****.
*** I estimate that I will need to replace this once a year, at most. So yes, €39.50 well spent.
**** By which I mean, I was at a party and Gisele was also there, very far away from me.
