I’ve recently begun thinking that one can never have too many coats, especially in a climate like ours when, let’s face it, you’ll be wearing your coat 99% of the time. How many times have you got dressed only to think, ‘hell, it doesn’t matter what I’ve got on because all anyone’ll be seeing is my coat?’ (Well, maybe without the “hell” because you’re not American.)

In any case, I have very few coats. It’s miraculous – coats are the only item of clothing that I don’t own in abundance. Well, them and trousers, which are not my friend. I’ve been thinking of expanding my coat repertoire, and these two babies from River Island have been catching my eye. But the question is: which one?

I love the bright colour of the check coat, and its boyfriend shape – it’s similar to one of my two current coats – while I have felt the bronze number in person, it is so intensely soft and beautiful and the painted bronze detail is incredible.

So which do I choose?! Halp!
