Weekend reading – on Kate Moss, Victoria’s Secret and Katie Taylor

Ever wonder how the Victoria’s Secret show is cast? (No? Me neither.) In any case, here you can watch the video of how a panel of judges chooses girls to walk in the annual VS show. (Speaking of, I did a wee post during the week on the Annoushka jewellery used in the show, which will be broadcast in the US on December 4th.)
A little late – again – this weekend but I blame a late night last night celebrating all things woman at Irish Tatler magazine’s annual Women of the Year awards. Katie Taylor (deservedly) won the title of Woman of the Year 2012 while other award winners included Rhona Mahony, Denise Charlton, Catherine McGuinness and Dr Emmeline Hill.
Tamara Mellon is a figure who has fascinated fashion lovers (and those within the industry) for decades, not only because she was rumoured to have ruthlessly pushed Jimmy Choo out of his own company. This New York Times interview with her doesn’t clear much up, but it’s interesting all the same.
Kate Moss has (finally) spoken, in an interview with Vanity Fair. The piece may not blow the lid off the super’s many documented ups and downs, but it does provide a good insight into life as a model, those nude shots for The Face, and her relationship with Johnny Depp.
I’ll admit to being sliiiiiightly wedding-obsessed of late. I blame the fact that so, so many of my friends and peers are getting married – is it just me, or is the average marrying age dropping again? In any case, Mary Charteris’s wedding dress is a good example of a wedding “don’t” – and this ring from Weir and Sons is (in my opinion) an example of a wedding “do”!
I wrote about the myth of the capsule wardrobe for Beaut.ie this week – white shirts are not essential, after all, and trousers aren’t for everyone. Then on Thursday, I tackled the good ol’ first-date dilemma: what to wear?!
We also did a faaaab giveaway with Kildare Village – it’s finished now and the winner will be announced tomorrow, but the video, featuring Angela Scanlon, is still worth a watch! And don’t forget to sign up for KV’s private sale for 20% extra off their already cut-price wares next weekend.
Lastly – and this may be more of interest to me than to you – the Guardian has a great piece on how bloggers are cashing in. Can I hear a ka-ching?!
A demain, kittens. (Don’t forget to pick up Monday’s Irish Times for my full-page fashion column.)
