For this A/W, Peter O’Brien and Arnotts have partnered to produce a capsule collection of 28 styles – including coats, a grey wool skinny pant, a black high waisted wide leg trouser, seven dresses and four skirts. The collection has incorporated Magee tweed, which is a lovely traditional Irish touch, and includes items created in satin, crepe de chine and boiled effect flannel.

That’s the official blurb – but what do I think about it? There’s something really nicely simple about the collection, as there have been about the previous two he’s done for the Irish department store, but the addition of tweed makes things feel a little more substantial this season, if that’s not too simplistic.

I love this coat, for example – even though I would like to see it with a high-waisted, true-blue jean and a white shirt, buttoned up to the collar with a black ribbon (beggars and choosers, wha’?). I also love the grey suit, below – which I feel would look stunning with one of Equipment’s bright purple shirts peeking out from over the top of the jacket . . .

The colours, again, are very basic – greys, beiges, black and white with a touch of, if I’m not mistaken, olive green, and there are definitely some slightly military vibes emanating from the designs, although rather than these being women at war, they are, perhaps, women of war (an important distinction).

This LBD is another sweet piece (and wouldn’t it look great with one of Joanne Hynes‘s collars?). Ultimately, these are all items that would fit into most people’s wardrobes and could easily be mixed and matched with items you already own.

I’ll most definitely be popping in to check out that camel coat, and these high-waisted, wide-legged trousers – such a gorgeous classic, and perfect for A/W 2012.

What do you think? Are you a fan? Items range in size from 8-16 and prices range from €150 to €495.
