Fran & Jane – y’know, I’ve gone on about this Irish brand before – have just launched their limited-edition “Oscar Collection”, seven evening gowns worthy of any awards season. The collection is seven dress styles, in a limited run of 25 each – meaning you’re quite unlikely to bump into someone wearing your dress, unless, y’know, you and your mates all buy one. The gowns are also pricey, starting at €299 and going up to €599. Instead of following trends, the designs abide by some more conservative, yet classic, formalwear rules: floor-length, some one-shouldered, all in fairly neutral tones of beiges, caramels and pastels.
I absolutely love the Oscar 3 dress, on the right of the top photograph, but wouldn’t you know, it’s the most expensive, at €599. It’s the kind of thing I would definitely consider if I was getting married, for example – I love the idea of wearing something a little different (and most certainly not white).
