I’ve been thinking a lot lately about sunglasses, and how they seem to suit 99 per cent of the population. (Mostly, let’s face it, I’ve been thinking about myself – and how I should wear sunglasses more often, given that I rarely like photographs of myself and sunglasses seem a handy and unsuspicious way to cover your visage.) It’s no coincidence that a huge number of style bloggers are rarely if ever seen without their shades.

Take Blair of Atlantic Pacific (above); she seems to own hundreds of pairs of sunglasses and is rarely photographed without them. Not for her, those squinting-into-the-sun, wrinkled-up photographs that I seem to come out with.

Andy from Style Scrapbook is another one; even though this outfit is fairly run-of-the-mill (though I love that sweater), her sunglasses seem to elevate her from casual to chic.

Lastly, Hedvig of The Northern Light is the ultimate proof that sunglasses maketh the outfit. I think it’s time to invest in a few more pairs – I currently own one and really, that’s just not enough.
