One of my best friends is getting married last year, with the result that I’ve been allowing my love of weddings to go seriously into overdrive. I could spend hours every day on Once Wed, Fly Away Bride and Sparkle & Swish, not to mention drooling over the fab circus wedding that just went on chez Dirty Fabulous! I’m frequently emailing my friend with wedding ideas (“how about this fab table setting?” “look at these gorgeous un-matching bridesmaids’ dresses?”) and I even have a board on Pinterest dedicated to wedding stuff. It’s fair to say I’m really into this whole wedding lark!

So I was interested, to say the least, when I saw the latest offering from White by Vera Wang, la Wang’s cut-price line for US-based David’s Bridal. This is basically the off-the-rack version of a bespoke Wang dress, which can set you back well into five figures, and the dresses go from a size 0 (UK 4) to a size 26 (UK 30). Though I was once very much not a wedding dress type of person, lately I’m kind of coming around to the idea, and some of these are really making me think twice . . . They range in price from around $1,100 to $1,500 and, though David’s Bridal says items can not be shipped internationally, I’m sure there’s some way around this!

Do you love or hate the traditional white or ivory wedding gown? Have we moved past it, or is it a tradition that will never die?
