I was asked the other day on Twitter where I would recommend for bright, mixed-texture, colourful menswear, and the first place that came to mind was Hackett, whose lookbooks are always a riot of colour – and, let’s face it, hilariously styled menswear that I’m sure would make most Irish men quake with fear. Then I felt totally justified when Darren Kennedy waded in on the conversation and seconded my Hackett recommendation, adding that Jack Wills is great for bright menswear – and he should know! Every time I see him he’s in another very dapper and colourful get-up.

So I thought I should have another look at the Hackett lookbook for autumn/winter and pick my favourites – I know, fashion blogging is so hard!

I love these jaunty models – and those check trousers are amazing, I have resolved to seek them out in ladies’ clothing form. Plus, those burnt rust trousers on the right are sumptuous. The bow ties might be a step too far in the jaunty direction for most Irish lads, but I can definitely see pieces from Hackett’s A/W collection being picked up and incorporated into what might be considered a slightly more conservative dress code.

These suits really remind me of Chuck Bass, and that is no bad thing!

What do you think about Hackett’s A/W offerings? Would you be dressing your da, your brother or your fella in them, or steering well clear?
