So this past week, as part of its BE TRUE campaign, Nike released three limited-edition LGBT sneakers to support the LGBT community. And guess what? I love them! And I happen to be in New York, one of the three cities worldwide (along with Portland and San Fran, so hipster centrals, all ’round) that will be getting its own limited-edition sold-only-in-that-city sneaker.

Aren’t they slick? The only problem is that, between the jigs and the reels, I have not left Crown Heights, Brooklyn, since I arrived here four days ago. It is roasting in New York, and I mean full-on sweating-through-your-undies roasting. I lay out today for two hours and thought I would die of heat stroke immediately (not to mention from a heart attack due to the biggest beetle in the world that was intent on terrorising me – did you know they buzz when they fly?! gross).

Despite all of this, I feel as if a trip to the Nike store is warranted – after all, I did miss Pride in Dublin this past weekend, and my being here is particularly fortuitous. What about you? Would you brave the stifling, 34-degree heat to buy a pair of limited-edition, amazing sneakers?
