It’s phase one of the refurbishment of Penneys on Mary Street, which has been a slight logistical nightmare for the past few weeks – every time I go in there I feel like Jennifer Connelly in Labyrinth, and spend at least a half hour trying to find my way out!

Well it looks like it’s all been worth it – I think the new fit-out looks great! The store looks really slick, clean and minimalist while still looking like Penneys, which, let’s face it, has its own distinctive DNA.

For now, the first floor is the only completed phase – and that’s where you’ll find menswear, and my favourite department, shoes! I’ll definitely be popping in over the next few days to have a look – how about you? Are you excited about this new development (which adds a whopping 21,500 sq ft of space on to the existing space, bringing it to a grand total of 95,600 sq ft)?
