I’ve spent more time than (possibly) is healthy wondering why it is that I like Kristen Stewart so much – and don’t give me any of that “Twilight defined a generation” crap, because I am way too old for that rhetoric. Seeing these photographs of Stewart at Cannes gallivanting with Kirsten Dunst and her co-stars in the upcoming film, On the Road (above, wearing Balenciaga, to boot), made me realise that I love her precisely because she is so normal – in a way, Stewart behaves how I’d imagine I’d behave, were I to wake up tomorrow a mega-star. To whit:

What’s that, Kiki [Dunst]? Is that where I should be looking during this photocall? Gosh, sorry, I’ve never done one of these before. I feel really self-conscious and – dang – so nervous!

I know, my trousers are whack, right?! My stylist picked them out. I’m just glad my shoes aren’t too high – I still can’t figure out those heels!

But my shades! Man, I can deal with these shades. These shades are sick! Like, good sick. Don’t you think?

Oh man, I hate it when that happens! Kiki [Dunst], is that why you’re not wearing shades?!

Okay, okay, I’m styling it out. Styling. It. Out. Fame is hard.
