Did anyone else read Kurt Anderson’s brilliant piece in Vanity Fair, “You say you want a devolution?” I wish I’d written it, actually; in it, Anderson maintains that the past 20 years have seen the most marked stagnation in the aesthetics of fashion and homewares. In other words, this is the time when trends stood still.  Anyway, in case you’re looking for a real-life illustration, how about these shots from the Topshop S/S campaign? This isn’t necessarily a criticism – I quite like some of the looks – but, man, do they look derivative!
