So just in case my post on nails earlier this week wasn’t enough for you, and in case you haven’t been sufficiently encouraged to hit up Brown Thomas for tomorrow night’s Fashion Night Out in association with Vogue, here’s another reason: tomorrow night sees the launch of Chanel‘s Les Jeans de Chanel, especially designed for the night in question.

The shades go from a medium to a very light blue, and I can’t help but think they’d be perfect for creating ombréed nails . . . plus, Chanel nail varnishes are just plain lovely. And when you buy the limited editions, in the Chanel boutique, you get a Chanel carrier bag, which always makes me feel special, and just that little bit pretentious. Just how I like it!

How about you? Do you dig Chanel’s limited editions or are they too gimmicky for you? Are you fundamentally against getting on a waiting list for a nail polish? How do you feel about the situation in Libya at the moment?

Okay, that last question was a joke, but even typing it out did make me feel a little guilty. Then I remember an editorial I read by Lorraine Candy, who, when she was accused of promoting an industry that was “just frocks”, asked if we would say that about the motor industry, that it’s “just cars”. Because fashion, like it or not, is the second biggest industry in the UK. (In Ireland it comes in around fourth, after farming and making Tayto.)

Polishes are priced at €25 each from the Chanel boutique at Brown Thomas.
