Espirit A/W 2011
So I’ll admit it: Espirit isn’t a label I would ever really consider when thinking about where to shop, or even where to advise others to shop. But this campaign image made me stop, stare, and think what a fool …
So I’ll admit it: Espirit isn’t a label I would ever really consider when thinking about where to shop, or even where to advise others to shop. But this campaign image made me stop, stare, and think what a fool I’ve been, perhaps all along.
I love the man in the centre’s brogues – and I also love the pop of navy in the shoes on the right-hand woman. I also love her dressed-up chinos, and the fact that the stylist didn’t feel the need to have everything perfectly ironed. It’s quite a cool, relaxed look, but very dressed-up all the same. And while nothing there is going to make someone go, “oh my God, your dress is absolutely amazing“, there’s something oh-so stylish about how nonchalant they all are.
Oh look! A bicycle! And a university campus! No, it’s not original, but it’s a bit like a dog with its head out a car window – it never gets old! Furthermore, that pink mac is just gorgeous. And I should know; once, when I was rich*, I bought a Burberry mac, so am now the expert on all things mac-related.
Espirit, oh, it’s like it was made for me. Underwear and stripey socks! I dress like that all the time! Sometimes I dress like that to work, but, you know, with jeans and a top on over it.
A BABY! WITH SOME COLOURFUL BOOKS! And if that’s not a light to light up the beginning of your weekend, well, I just don’t know what is.
* I wasn’t really rich. I just thought I was rich.**
** I love this asterisk lark. Can I keep it?!
