So from yesterday’s Yigal Azrouel post to today’s, Carolina Herrera‘s resort 2012 collection. Vastly different collections in one way – block colours vs florals and sweeping fabrics – but similar in that they both have quite basic shapes and silhouettes.

I love love LOVE the coat in the bottom right-hand photograph (although I don’t think I’m alone in finding it very difficult to “invest” in statement coats, knowing the black mac beside it will just be that much more practical) and I also quite adore how Herrera has produced a coherent collection that showcases floral floor-length wrap dresses (a little bit DVF, mais non?) next to very masculine tailoring. There’s something quite French about it – I love the way French women can show up in full-on feminine dress one day, and cigarette pants and a white shirt the next, and look no less chic.

I also predict that we’ll see either Blake Lively or Leighton Meester in one of the floor-length gowns on a red carpet near you soon. Don’t say I didn’t, um, predict it!
